Louis Oosthuizen is hitting top form at exactly the right time.

The former Open champion, second in the Masters this year, could well go one better this week in the final major of the season, the US PGA.

Louis arrived in Kiawah Island on the back of a fourth place finish at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone and few if any will play for the grand slam title with greater confidence.

The South African was just two shots back in Akron where Keegan Bradley benefited from a late fall by Jim Furyk.

Simon Dyson is similarly in confident mood after coming in 16th. But he and Louis are not the only ones of our contenders looking to impress this week because nobody bettered Charl Schwartzel’s closing 63 which took him into the top 25.

Peter Uihlein continued his steady progress in the professional ranks by finishing fourth at the Finnish Challenge where Espen Koftsad and Nick Dougherty were just behind in sixth. Expect all three to qualify for the main tour later this year.
